Meet Our Staff

Allan Dorr, MRCVS

Doc is a native Coloradan.  He was born in Longmont and raised in Lakewood, CO.  After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he received a BS in Molecular Biology in 1974.  Two years later he was accepted by the University of Cambridge, England, to study veterinary medicine.  While a student, he did externships with Rossdale, Hunt, Peace, Hopes and Ricketts of Newmarket and Kirkbride and Carter of Cambridge.  In 1981, he graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.  Upon returning to Colorado, Doc had internships with Littleton Large Animal Clinic and Belcaro Animal Hospital, both near Denver.  In 1982, he took a position as an associate veterinarian and moved to Delta, CO.  In 1986, he opened Dorr Veterinary Hospital and it has been at its present location since 1987.  His area of special interest is orthopedic surgery.  Away from the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his son and working on his farm. Doc's other interests include aviation.  He is an instrument rated private pilot and also  holds a multi-engine, commercial license.

Gail Dorr

Gail is a transplant.  She was born and raised in New Jersey.   After graduating from Somerville High School, she attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA for two years.  She then transferred to the University of Colorado, in Boulder and in 1974,  received a BA in History.  While she and Doc lived in Cambridge, Gail  worked for the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate's Accounting Department.  After returning to the Denver area, she worked at the Johns Manville Credit Union in Littleton. Upon moving to Delta, Gail worked for the City of Delta Utilities Department.   She is now the Office Manager at Dorr Veterinary Hospital.  Outside of the clinic, she enjoys visiting with her son, Sean, researching her family history on Ancestry, and coaxing her garden to grow with the help of her three cats and two dogs.  You can thank Gail for the beautiful flowers in front of the office every summer.

Sean grew up right here in Delta and  has always been around animals.  He raised countless numbers of orphaned and rescued kittens, puppies, rabbits and calves.  While in high school, he spent his summers working at Dorr Veterinary Hospital.  After graduating from high school, Sean enlisted in the Army National Guard.  He was sent to Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC,  for his Basic and MOS training as an all-wheeled mechanic.  Upon returning to Delta, he returned to work at Dorr  Veterinary Hospital and has been here since 2007.  He loves to be able to help sick and injured pets and know  that he is making a difference.   He lives in Delta with his two dogs, Carmen and Jackson (yes, named after Fort Jackson) and his two cats, Grimlin and Sephra.

Hayley was born and raised in Paonia, CO.  She has a deep love and respect for animals and knew from an early age that she wanted to work in a field that involved animal care.  She has been working in the veterinary field for 2 years and loves being part of our team!  In her spare time, Hayley enjoys camping,  hiking, and trail riding with her horse, Remi and Border Collie, Tiny.
